The spot price of bananas from various sport market players in the Philippines dropped 60-70% WoW on week 27. The price drop is one of the most significant price drops that occurred, with a massive supply of Class B fruit with no buyers. The spot rates currently stand at USD 1.09/13 kg box (PHP 62/13kg box), excluding transportation costs. The price decrease presents an opportunity for new banana buyers to purchase good-quality bananas at a very competitive price.
