Thai Red-Fleshed Ruby Grapefruit Surpasses Vietnamese Counterparts Despite Higher Prices in Vietnam's 2023/24 Season

Despite being twice as expensive as its Vietnamese counterpart, the Thai import stands out for its superior quality, making it more appealing to Vietnamese consumers. Thai importers attribute the early arrival of Ruby grapefruit in 2024 to consumers' rising purchasing power. In contrast, Vietnamese red-fleshed grapefruit can only fetch USD 3 to 4 per kilogram (kg) at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, while Thai Ruby grapefruit grade 1 fruits command prices of up to USD 8/kg.
