Doukkala grape production represents 27% of national production

Doukkala grape occupies 16,557 ha of land and represents more than 42% of the total surface area of ​​the table vineyard. It is a vigorous, compact grape variety which medium to large berries in red to purplish in colour. The Doukkali grape products sector includes some eleven Doukkali vine cooperatives and an Economic Interest Group of Doukkali Vine Producers (GIE). Each year, with the support of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, these provide more than 38,000 tonnes of grapes, which represents a production value of MAD 153 million. The cultivation of Doukkala grapes is capable of strong growth in futures. The cultivation of the variety currently accounts for 27% of the national production of table grapes. In addition to Doukkali grapes, there are varieties such as Muscat of Alexandria, Valency and Abbou which represent 9.4%, 8.9%, and 6.1% respectively of the area planted with table vines.
