Heavy rainfall throughout South Africa, a record rainfall since 2019, and low market volumes this year have been wreaking havoc on the country's local and export market for fresh fruit and vegetables.

Potatoes have seen a significant domestic price increase. A single 10kg bag is currently sold at ZAR 41.29 (USD 2.60). This is a 39% increase driven by last week's poor volumes and rains.
