Early Cherry Crop in Mersin, Turkiye, Is Sold at Farm Gate for USD 2/kg in W21

The cherry harvest started in Mersin, one of Turkiye's major agricultural production centres. The harvest of early sweet cherries in the Erdemli region is expected to reach over 5K MT in 2023 from 250 hectares planted. In W21, the farm gate price for cherries stood at USD 2/kg. Additionally, this early variety is a fleshy type preferred by exporters, mainly in Norway, Germany, and Russia. The harvest, which started around mid-May, is expected to continue until mid-June in the Mersin region.
