Egypt's Cauliflower Farmers Struggle as Prices Plummet by 25% MoM in Jan-25

Egyptian farmers are grappling with a significant decline in cauliflower prices, which dropped from USD 396.87 per metric ton (mt) in Dec-24 to USD 297.65/mt in Jan-25. This 25% month-on-month (MoM) decrease is due to high stock levels in the market and the short shelf life of cauliflower, which forces producers to sell quickly, further exerting downward pressure on prices. The surplus supply and limited storage options have intensified challenges for farmers, jeopardizing their ability to cover production costs.
