According to several Dutch importers, the European mango market has been difficult in weeks 17 and 18. There is currently a surplus of mangos in the market; there are late Peru mangos mixed with large volumes of Ivory Coast Mangos and an unusually high presence of Brazilian mango. Normally, Brazil does not send large volumes to Europe during the Peru season. However, Brazil saw an opportunity in the European market when there was a temporary ban placed in Peru. Furthermore, the Peru season has dragged out much longer than usual and has been clashing in the market with the African supply. Typically, the Peru mango season finishes much earlier, but importers have still been selling off Peru Mangos through the beginning of this week 18. This over-extended Peruvian mango season was partly due to many shipping delays and increased production in Peru.
