Strikes in the highland region of Ecuador which began in WK 23 have directly affected the transportation of exotic fruits which are mostly transported by air freight (once it is transferred from the Amazon to the airport in Quito). With road closures and truck abduction, producers and exporters have faced challenges reaching the airport to deliver cargo and sales. The logistics disruptions due to strikes have caused fruit prices to surge upwards as less fruit supply was available. For example, CIF prices of Yellow dragon fruit to Cana da have gone from USD 27 CIF to USD 33 CIF.
