On 9 March 2022, the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture announced prohibiting the export of soybean oil, sunflower base vegetable oils, cottonseed oil, safflower oil, canola oil, corn oil, margarine and their fractions. This action was taken to ensure food security in the country and prevent food supply problems that may arise due to extraordinary situations caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

However, on 27 August 2022, the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that products with an "Organic Product Certificate" are exempt from export restrictions. Furthermore, export restrictions applied to other vegetable oils (soybean oil, cottonseed oil, safflower oil, canola oil, corn oil, margarine and their fractions) excluding sunflower seed oils and their fractions, are lifted. Export applications made under the inward processing regime are exempt from export regulations. The export ban for common bean, red lentil and sunflower oil remains in place.
