Vietnam's Seafood Exports Decline by 5.1% MoM in Dec-23

In Dec-23, Vietnam's seafood exports are estimated to reach USD 750 million, a 5.1% month-on-month (MoM) decrease and a 0.3% year-over-year (YoY) decrease. In 2023, Vietnam's seafood exports are projected to total USD 8.98 billion, a 17.8% YoY decline.

The decline is particularly pronounced in shrimp exports, which experienced a 14.52% YoY drop in volume and a 23.04% YoY decrease in value from Jan-23 to Nov-23. Shrimp exports amounted to 353.3 thousand tons, valued at USD 3.09 billion. Pangasius, the most significant export product in volume and the second-largest value, reached 732.5 thousand tons, worth USD 1.68 billion. This represents a decrease of 9.63% YoY in volume and a substantial 26.97% YoY decline in value.
