The last Tuesday (March 2nd), the ESALQ / SENAR-RS paddy rice indicator (58% whole grains, with cash payment) closed at R$ 85.45 / 50kg bag, the lowest daily value since August 24, 2020, when it closed at R$ 84.52 / 50kg bag.
Even though current prices remain well above the average of the last 15 years in real terms, adjustments at the international trade balance parities, and with the advance of the harvest pointed the prices of paddy rice to fall to the lowest level in the last six months after a profitable year for the sector.
Between the last two Tuesdays (February 23 and March 2), the ESALQ / SENAR-RS indicator fell by 1.5%, to R $ 85.45 / 50 kg bag on day 2. In February, the monthly average was R$ 88.08 / 50 kg bag, 2.66% lower than that of Jan 21.
