Freight costs from China to Turkey have halved and are expected to decrease further. Three months ago, the cost of a 40-foot container for Shanghai-Istanbul was around USD 12 thousand. As of W37, it has reduced to half that, at USD 6 thousand. Container costs are expected to decrease to USD 4 thousand in the next 5 to 6 months. This will decrease the costs of imported goods from China and make Turkish agricultural products, especially fruit, more competitive in the Chinese market.
