Freight costs from China to Turkey halved and is expected to decrease further. Three months ago, the cost of a 40 foot container was around USD 12,0000 for Shanghai-Istanbul, As of W37 it has decreased to half that at USD 6,000. It is expected that container costs will decrease to USD 4,000 in the next 5-6 months. This will decrease the costs of imported goods from China but will also make Turkish agricultural products, especially fruit, more competitive in the Chinese market.
