Fresh Pineapple Price Computation vs. Weak Philippine Currency

The continuous devaluation of the Philippine Peso (PHP) against the US dollar affects the fresh pineapple export price adjustment and the computation of the new price against the market specifications requested by the customers. The Philippine peso is currently trading at PHP 58 for USD 1. In W38, the CNF price of the Class A Crownless Pineapple in the South Korean market is computed at USD 10 per 12 kg box. This week, the packaging is increased from 15kg to 16kg to satisfy the market specifications. This has resulted in an increase in the pricing from 15% FOB to 30% CNF. The current price of fresh pineapple will no longer be competitive.
