In the first nine months of 2023, Vietnam's ginger exports surged to nearly USD 26 million, marking a threefold increase compared to 2022. According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, Vietnamese ginger is gaining popularity in Australia, India, Pakistan, and various European nations. Besides frozen ginger, there is also significant consumption of processed ginger, with ginger jam particularly favored in colder climates.

Exporters note a sharp increase in ginger orders for the United States (US), India, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Pakistan markets in the last months of the year, leading to record-high prices. Ginger sells at farms for USD 0.83 to 1.08 per kilogram (kg) in W48, depending on the type. Ginger meeting export standards commands a higher price, reaching up to USD 1.25/kg.
