As predicted in the last seasons, the almond sector needs to improve its infrastructure to develop. In 2022 there are only seven almond processors in Portugal, which is undersized for the capacity installed. The growers need to send the products to Spain or sell it in-shell. There's a consensus amongst players that 3 to 4 new modern process facilities should be established to handle developing capacity.
