According to one of the largest exporters of exotic fruits, physalis, gulupa (passion fruit variety), and goldenberries, from Colombia, there are concerns about the lack of supply and availability of quality fruits for exports. Many producers have shifted their focus to other products like tomatoes or potatoes, mainly because of higher production costs for input materials like fertilizer. The exporter added that shipping volumes dropped from 3 FCLs/month to 1 FCL/month. Colombian Goldenberries exports were USD 38 million in 2021, 80% of which were exported to Europe.
