The 2022/23 United States (US) grape season in the Vietnamese market will end, characterized as a relatively quiet season due to low production and cautious import practices by Vietnamese importers, who faced losses in the previous season. The low grape supply has allowed importers to sell Vietnamese grapes at high prices of approximately USD 67 to 69 per 9-kilogram (kg) carton. The scarcity is expected to continue, especially for green grapes, during the upcoming high-demand period in the Vietnamese market, including Christmas, New Year, and the Lunar New Year. With the US grape season ending and the seasons in Australia, South Africa, and Chile still too early, there is anticipation for Peruvian grapes to fill the gap. However, Peruvian grape production this season is also not high. Due to perceived risks associated with long transit times, Peruvian grape growers and producers will likely prioritize the US and European Union (EU) markets over Far East Asia.
