As international Arabica coffee prices remain high, there is a continuous increase in the export value compared to last year. In February 2022, the Guatemalan coffee export value was USD 110.2M, an increase of 77.5% compared to USD 62M recorded in February 2021. Compared to last year, prices also increased by 50%, from USD 1.66/pound to USD 2.5/pound. Exporters expect prices to remain high during the next few months and will keep their export volume high to international markets. Current coffee prices are important also for smallholder farmers to receive a fair payment for their coffee as production costs have also increased during the last year.
