Guatemalan tomato wholesale prices increased 17% during the first weeks of March 2022

During the first weeks of March, tomato prices reached USD 0.13 per pound, increasing 17% compared to USD 0.11 registered in February. In the past weeks, tomato supply has been reduced in wholesale markets; the main reason was a shortage of production in some producing areas around the country. As many tomato producers struggle with current fertilizer prices, supply might be affected, causing major increases in prices during the next few months.
