New Harvest Prohibition Period For Local Octopus In Ecuador

The Ecuadorian Ministry of Production and Fishery, announced prohibition period for harvest of local octopus to secure the domestic supply. The prohibition starts from 1 May to 30 June each year. This has made local octopus prices jump to USD 6.9-7.2/lb. This boosted import of octopus as well, especially by supplier who can provide Certificate of Origin and Catch Certificate proving that it does not come from Ecuadorian waters.
