The catastrophic heatwave of July and August has lead potato farmers to re-sow many of their fields - especially in southern Greece - as late as September, due to the heat damage the potato seed received. The young plants also had frost damage in winter, so there would be a increase in prices and lower harvest yields for exported potatoes. Prices of domestic potatoes are expected to increase sharply towards the end of the year.
