Continued heavy rainfall on the East coast of Australia has delayed and reduced the production of carrots by 20-30% in Queensland and Victoria in W44. Most carrots produced are going straight into processing instead of retail. Growers are facing losses and reducing planting area. Tasmanian and WA carrots are filling the gap, but this has decreased export allocation for carrots by 5% to 10%. With the depreciation of the Australian dollar, demand from export markets remains stable. Indicative FOB prices for carrots in W44 stand at USD 0.47-0.53/kg (AUD 0.80-0.90/kg).
