The Indonesian local market is currently experiencing high demand for oranges, especially for Murcott variety, due to the low volume available. During June-July, importers source the products from Argentina (Murcott) and Australia (Navel Valencia). In Week 29, the average wholesale price for Murcott was USD 16/box (7-8 kg), with an exchange rate of IDR 15,000/USD. Statistically, Indonesia has imported more than 68K MT of orange products (including Mandarin oranges, tangerines, and satsumas) from January–May 2022, with an average CIF price of around USD 1,683/MT. China has become the top origin country during this period, followed by Pakistan, Egypt, and the USA. China’s orange is expected to re-enter the market starting in October/November 2022.
