High Energy Cost in Greece Is Not Compensated by EU or Greek Subsidies for Farmers

The electricity bill for Greece farmers in January 2023 increased by 80% from last season and 25% since October 2022. Due to inflation and income tax rates, state bills increased by another 10% in 2022. Kiwi exporters did not receive the promised state support on the above expenses and are instead hoping for a good market to negotiate better prices for Kiwis between February and April. If governmental permanent support measures are not decided soon, farmers might proceed with active demonstrations including road blocking in all Greece's points of entry and even demonstrations at Athens city center.
