High Supply of Mexican Avocado Expected in the Japanese Market in W49

The higher price of Mexican avocados, along with the weak Japanese Yen resulted in higher import costs and lower import demand in Japan. The avocado arrival in Japan in W48 reflects a 60% YoY drop from the import volume in 2021. One vessel that was supposed to arrive in Japan in W48 with avocados is delayed and will arrive in W49. The delay is expected to cause a price drop as demand will remain constant, but supply will be high in W49.
