Tortillas, the main item for Mexican Cuisine, shows price increases and affect the local economy of households. The increasing prices of tortillas are attributed to the rising costs of white corn, reaching MXN 7K (USD 336.83) per ton this season. Corn prices are affected due to the global supply shortage caused by the Russia-Ukraine war. Historically, tortilla prices ranged between MXN 22-23/kg (USD 1.07-1.11) and now reach MXN 30/kg (USD 1.46).
