Indonesia is an important player in the fish canning industry, with a domestic production capacity of 1.6 million MT per year (BPS, 2019). Indonesia produces canned sardines and mackerel, which amounts to 300 mlllion cans all together, and distributed to the domestic market (90%), with the 10% for export.
