At the trader selling price, the price of Indonesian cloves remains between USD 8.02/kg and 8.68/kg (IDR 120-130/kg) in W4. It is forecasted to remain stable until the end of Q1. The largest customers of Indonesian cloves are still the cigarette factories on Java Island. Small & medium traders prefer to sell to the factories because of the cash payment and are safer from exchange rate fluctuations. The factories use it as the raw material for production, but they also sell their surplus materials for the export market. Indonesian and aromatic cigarettes known as kretek cigarettes, use cloves as a raw material to blend with the tobacco to give a unique taste & aroma.
