At present, the industrial chicken price in the North of Vietnam is 1.05 USD / kg while the price in the South is only 0.65 USD / kg. It is more difficult to raise chickens in the North due to weather factors. In the North, the winter is very cold and the summer is very hot, so the chickens are more depreciated which decreases productivity and increases the cost of production.
Transporting the chickens from the South to the North is also not efficient due to high transportation costs, hence, chicken supply from the South cannot replenish the supply in the North. If chicken is frozen and then moved to the North, it will be difficult to compete with imported frozen chicken in terms of price.
