In Italy, tuna imports from Vietnam have surged dramatically in 2024. In May-24, imports increased by 224% year-on-year (YoY), exceeding USD 4 million. Meanwhile, for the first five months of 2024, the total value of imports reached nearly USD 15 million, tripling from the same period last year. Vietnamese Customs data reveals that fresh, frozen, and dried tuna now make up 64% of the total export value from Vietnam to Italy, a significant rise from last year's figures. This growth is due to the diversification of Vietnamese products and strong demand in the Italian market.
