Mantin is one of the main jackfruits producing town in Malaysia, and J32 variety accounts for majority of the jackfruit grown in Mantin. This variety of jackfruit has been sold to the Hong Kong market for over the past 20 years. Although J32 jackfruit is less sweet than J33 and J34 varieties, it has the advantage in terms of storability and transportation, it has been continuously shipped to Hong Kong, while some are also transshipped to China through Hong Kong.
For J32, grade A fruits are mainly selected for export market, while fruits with grade B and lower are sold domestically. Given the low sweetness of J32 pulp, it is less popular in the local market. After all, domestic consumers usually prefer sweeter taste, which makes J33 and J34 varieties more popular among the local customers.
