Melon consumption in Japan is decreasing annually. The consumption rate dropped from USD 654K/year in 2002 to USD 295K/year in 2022, or less than half. The average unit price from 2002 to 2022 has hardly changed. It is because of Japan's overall decline in melon consumption. Fruit consumption declined by nearly 30% between 2002 and 2022. The drop in melon consumption is above average, and demand in the Japanese market will continue to be limited.
