Kenyan maize traders were expected to start maize importation of 10M bags in February to meet consumer demand and lower prices but maize importation is yet to kick off due to a shortage in the global market. The commodity is also highly-priced in the neighboring East African countries. Prices have increased by 4.2% MoM from USD 38.55/90kg bag in January to USD 40.16/ 90kg bag in February. Traders expect the prices of imported maize to hit USD 48.19/90kg in the coming weeks.
