Increased Demand for Tea in Kenya Result in Slight Price Increase

Tea prices at the weekly Mombasa auction in Kenya increased slightly in W35 (2 September, 2022), as the volumes traded grew amid increased demand. The average price at the auction was USD2.22/kg, up from USD 2.21/kg in the previous auction. Traders sold 8,961MT (135,350 packages) of the 12,263MT (186,468 packages) available on offer, leaving 3,302MT (135,350 packages) unsold. The total volume traded was 743MT more than the previous auction, signalling increased demand for tea.
