Large-Scale Smart Paddy Field Programme in Rice Paddy

The Large-Scale Smart Paddy Field (Smart SSB) Programme implemented since the year 2021 has helped in reducing paddy farmers’ over-reliance on middlemen in the rice paddy industry. Large Scale SMART SBB is an initiative introduced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) to increase productivity and production of paddy rice in the country through the involvement of companies investing and bearing the cost of paddy field management. SMART SBB helps establish efficient and systemic management of paddy fields, achieves a higher rate of self-sufficiency, and addresses issues of over-reliance on imported rice.
