The EU oilseed area is expected to fall by 9.7% to 11M hectares in 2032, compared to current levels. It is expected that the areas dedicated to the production of rapeseed and sunflower will decrease, which will be offset by an increase in the areas dedicated to soybeans and legumes. Average oilseed yields are estimated to continue to increase. EU oilseed production is projected to be 32.9MMT in 2032; currently, in 2020–2022, it stood at 30.2MMT. Pulse production is expected to rise by 54.7%, while soybean production will rise by 33.3%.

The EU is expected to remain a net importer of oilseeds, but imports are expected to decline. Also, the EU will import fewer pulses and may become largely self-sufficient. Although human consumption of pulses is expected to increase markedly, the animal feed will continue to be its main use.
