Kenyan macadamia nut exporters experienced a 10% decrease in prices from mid July to mid August 2022. Style 0 macadamias were trading at USD 20.00/kg before the decrease compared to USD 18.00 in W33. Style 1 and 2 were trading at USD 18.00/kg and USD 17.00/kg before the price decrease respectively compared to USD 16.50 for Style 1 and USD 16.00 for Style 2 after the price drop in W33. The primary contributing factor is the high inflation levels countries are experiencing on a global scale, which is putting downward pressure on demand for the high value commodity which in turn results in lower prices.
