Corn exports registered a 71.3% retraction at the end of July, according to the foreign trade report of the Paraguayan Chamber of Cereal and Oilseed Exporters and Marketers (Capeco). Despite the existing problems at the border with the neighboring country, Brazil represents 87% of Paraguayan corn exports and Uruguay 13%. The decrease in shipments is caused by an increase in domestic demand, especially for ethanol production, and delays in the departure of trucks to Brazil due to excessive border controls, mainly at the point that connects Ciudad del Este with Foz from Yguazú.
