Highest Level of Cattle Slaughter Reported for August in Argentina Since 2020

Cattle slaughter in Argentina in August registered the highest level since November 2020. During August, cattle slaughter in Argentina reported an 11% MoM increase and an 8% YoY increase to 1.23M animals processed. In the first eight months of 2022, cattle slaughtered amounted to 8.83 million, 3% more than in the same period last year. The rising exports are attributed to the increase in the export quota awarded by the government to exporters. The market prices of steer in W37 increased by USD 0.05-0.17/kg, depending on the weight and category of the product. On average, the steer prices increased by USD 0.07/kg to USD 4.33/kg, becoming the highest price in the region. In W37, cows kept the same prices for the third consecutive week, ranging between USD 3.43-3.57/kg.
