The Turkish city of Muğla holds a prominent position in cultural fishing, leveraging modern technology to primarily produce Sea Trout, Sea Bream, Sea Bass, Shi Drum (Umbrina Cirrrosa), and Stone Bass (Argyrosomus regius). In the first eight months of 2023, Muğla's fisheries sector recorded exports worth USD 553 million, a substantial increase of 5 thousand mt compared to the same period in the previous year, resulting in a revenue surge of USD 21 million. Furthermore, the sector has set ambitious export targets for 2023, aiming for 150 thousand mt and USD 1 billion in revenue. It is anticipated that the forthcoming resurgence in exports, expected to gain momentum in Oct-23, will contribute significantly to achieving these year-end objectives.
