At the end of September 2020, there was a foreign company that proposed to import maize corn from other countries in Myanmar during the period of June - November. However, Myanmar Corn Industrial Association has officially rejected the proposal in October. The association is afraid that the import of Non-GMO maize will disrupt the local market and export opportunities. The biggest advantage of Myanmar maize is the Non-GMO type even though its price is more expensive than the foreign imported maize.
