COVID 19 Effects: Myanmar tomato production decreases due to shortage of labor

The highest tomato production season is August and September in Myanmar during the rainy season as the ample rainfall helps tomato plants produce more fruits. However, due to the social distancing policy amidst COVID 19 situation at the workplace, growers are in shortage of manpower to harvest tomato to meet the domestic demand. In Yangon Wholesale Market, the tomato price has increased from MMK 1500 per viss to MMK 2000 per viss.
