Near 100 million plants sold by a British research organization

NIAB EMR announces that in 2021 had record sales of its fruit varieties, with over 94 million plants sold. NIAB EMR, based in Kent and part of NIAB Group (National Institute of Agricultural Botany), is a major organization in the UK for innovation and research on horticultural crops. Selling its fruit varieties under the trademark Malling Fruits, it is a trendsetter for a varietal range of strawberries and raspberries.

The top seller for the last season was the June-bearer strawberry variety Malling Centenary reaching over 68 million plants alone. Raspberry variety Malling Bella saw sales grow by over 50% on the previous year’s plantings. NIAB EMR Malling Fruits expects its sales to exceed 100 million plants in 2022. Especially promising are considered to be 2 strawberry varieties launched in 2021, Malling Ace and Malling Vitality, an ever-bearer and a June-bearer, which are expected to become industry standards in the next five years.
