New Opportunities to import from Morocco

In Portuguese hypermarkets for April and May, there are Spanish stone fruit, like peaches and nectarines from the earlier varieties in small calibers, and then come Portuguese fruit at the end of May until June, and Italian fruit in July and August.

This year, however, the offer from Spain, especially from Lerida Region, was limited due to the frost that damaged a significant part of the production and caused an increase in prices. This decrease in stone fruit offered from Spain can be an opportunity for Moroccan producers to sell to the Portuguese Market in April and May, although all certifications will be required to guarantee the quality. The decrease of stone fruit available from Spain will also have an impact on the stone fruit importers in Europe, such as Germany and France.
