New Zealand has just announced a ban on Taiwan Lychee with fruit fly found in recent shipment. The lychee requires steam treatment at 46.5C and 20 minutes before exporting to New Zealand, however, a fruit fly was still found after the treatment in a recent shipment. The shipment was consolidated with lychee and mango, which mango requires a similar heat treatment before exporting. Mango suppliers are afraid New Zealand would impose a ban on Mangoes as well.
