In India, no significant tariff changes are forecasted for lentil and chickpea import policies before December 2022. As chickpea and lentil sowing has started, weather conditions will affect the future price trend. India is forecasted to produce 1.5M tonnes of lentils in the coming season. However, since weather conditions are a direct factor, the market will change conditionally. Many companies expect India’s lentil imports to continue until February-March 2023. Canada and Australia, the world’s largest lentil suppliers, will be the markets for exports to India.
