Portugal will have its Norwegian Codfish

Portugal will have its Norwegian Codfish. As one of the biggest importers of Codfish and Salmo from Norway, the Norwegian company, Maiken Foods, specialized in RAS (recirculating aquaculture system), will invest EUR 80 million in the set-up of a brand new Salmon and Codfish farm in the south of Portugal.

This farm will produce in a first stage Salmon and, in a second phase, will create in aquaculture, Cod Fish. It’ll have a total annual capacity of 6.000 MT and distribute and sell salmon and cod, mainly in the European Union. The construction works are expected to start in the last quarter of 2022.
