In Brazil, producing onion will be more expensive in the next harvest. The National Association of Onion Producers carried out a survey that found that the inputs used, such as packaging, fertilizers, diesel oil, among others, will increase the final product by about 30% compared to the 20/21 harvest. It is worth remembering that this harvest was impacted by drought and hail, which reduced the productivity of harvested crops. The state of Santa Catarina alone lost 100,000 hectares of onion due to the cyclone bomb that hit the state - which accounts for 30% of national production. Prices in the south of Brazil averaged BRL 1.50 / kg and the entire harvest has already been marketed until March, and normally the harvest offer runs until June. As for the offer on the national market, red onions are practically closed, both from southern Brazil and Argentina. Yellow onion will be the predominant one in the market in the coming months, coming from the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest of Brazil.
