Palm oil demand rises in Bangladesh

On 5 February 2022, the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries hosted a webinar titled "Palm Oil Future Market Trend in Bangladesh." In the last eight years, Bangladesh's consumption of palm oil has climbed by 7%, reaching 1350,000 MT in 2021.

According to results presented during a webinar, palm oil consumption in Bangladesh climbed by 7% in the last eight years, reaching 1,350,000 MT in 2021. According to the findings, 1,260,000 MT of palm oil were consumed in 2013. Palm oil fulfills 52% of the country's edible oil demand due to cheaper pricing, while imported soybean oil meets 29.3%, domestically crushed soybean accounts for 15.6% , and local mustard oil accounts for the remaining 3.1% , according to the research. Palm oil, on the other hand, met 71% of total edible oil demand in 2013. The country's annual edible oil consumption is approximately 2,595,000 MT with imports accounting for 81% . According to the research, edible oil consumption (palm and soybean oil) increased by 12% in eight years, reaching 2,815,000 MT in 2021, up from 2,515,000 MT in 2013.
