The recent rain has caused major damage to the peanut crop that was supposed to harvest in the summer. Up until today, the estimated loss to the crop in the southern region of Taiwan is upwards of 20 million NTD, about 700,000 USD. As of now, prices are still steady, however, suppliers are suggesting that prices will start to increase when the shortage hits the market.
